Why me, why now?

Everyone tells me I need to blog. Make myself more marketable. It's not my idiom, but I get it. I know if it's not "The Future" of journalism, it's at least part of it. So this if my first go at it -- if for no other reason than to show that I'm current.
Those same everyones also say a blog needs to be topical, relevant, and not too personal to have any sway. Right now, however, I'm not too worried about sway. I'm still figuring out which direction to take my ramblings, so you're likely to get a lot of scattered thoughts about things I observe and think about while going through my change of life. Might be things in the media, might be sports, might be day-to-day coping with unemployment, might be my fantasy sports teams (but I promise not too much of that).
Might turn out to be mainly an exercise in self-therapy. If you happen upon anything that's relevant to you, or makes you think, or chuckle, that's great. If not, just skip over it ... no hard feelings. Come back again, maybe we'll connect. That's it for now, not because I'm out of thoughts, but because I have to be somewhere.
I'll be back ... with better stuff (I hope).
